Nintendo 3DS pictures. Real or fake?

Nintendo 3DS

As the date of E3 2010 draws ever-near, more and more leaks will start happening. Case in point, the Nintendo 3DS, which was confirmed as in-development by Nintendo with a short press-release, has yet to be fully revealed until E3 . . . and yet picture of the DSi successor are already surfacing.

Of course, more likely than not these images, as you can see above and below, are entirely fake. But there really is no way of truly knowing until Nintendo actually announces the upcoming system. These pictures come from a Japanese blog called “Munch Blog”.

The mock-up looks extremely realistic. Although on closer inspection it does seem to be a fake. Notice how large and long the screen is and how awkward it would be to hold (and it’s never shown physically in anyone’s hands). Some people have pointed out what they see as obvious signs that the picture is a mock-up as well.

But it’s always fun to speculate, this system looks extremely intriguing. The 3DS will contain 3D without having to use glasses, and this mock-up purports to do that as well as simulate the DS (which the 3DS will be fully backwards compatible with) with one-screen instead of having two physical screens. Which is definitely interesting.

So what do you think, is it real or fake? Leave the comment.
